Happen to have pictures to see what it is supposed to look at?
I don't have any pictures off hand. If you Google image "90-91 suburban electronic speedometer"......you can get an idea of what they look like. Main thing is that it has the circuit board on the back (like on the first page of this thread) rather than the cable connection. Also, I'm far from an expert.....but it seems that the electronic speedometer has the word "Quartz" on the face and resolution to the nearest mph.....rather than in 5mph increments.

It would have been a non "e" then known as a 700r4
Correct. 90-91 Suburbans and Blazers had the 700r4 with a VSS signal generator rather than traditional Speedo gears in the tailshaft housing.

When I posted the comment that you quoted 2 years ago........the transition period between the 700r4 and 4l60e was a little less clear to me.

Hi I have been looking this thread up and down wanting to do this conversation. Love the original interior look. What I can't find is what the donor speedo looks like.
Thanks. I guess I'll chime in and state the obvious and say the first post of this thread with ALL of the HIGHLY DETAILED pictures has what you're looking for... ;)

hello, sorry to bring up an old thread but i'm doing my first ls swap and i've been reading and doing all kinds of things to get my monte running. i found all the pieces to make my cluster just like this but i have a dumb question. the wire you solder to the speedo, where did you get/what was it from. thanks
That is a piece of wire I had laying around so I could plug it into the car dash harness, that way it was not permanently wired to the car in case I had to remove the cluster.

There was nothing said about the word "quartz" on the donor speedo. Yes we see the guts from the back of the speedo, but I always seem to get the wrong part if I dont see the actual part. 😊 this is the first thing I'm doing this off season Built6spdmcss, thanks to you. In addition, I'll be updating the lights to the LED with new sockets. Pics to follow when I'm done.

This thread looks like it will solve a problem that I have. Currently doing a much older swap, a L-98 TPI from an 87 Pontiac GTA into my 87 Grand Prix. The doner had an electric speedometer, which I couldn't figure out how to swap. The 4 pulse signal also tells the ECU when the car is at hiway speeds, which if I understand it, changes the mixture for cruising. I still will need to figure out how to calibrate the speedometer for the rear gears, but first things first.
Thanks for sharing this.

Excellent work. Hmmm. Maybe the Chevy speedometer could be used for the Oldsmobile Rallye pack with a graphics change. I'll be keeping an eye out now for 1990 Chevy K5's in the salvage yard now. I bought the Dakota Digital gauge cluster at much higher investment. I hope I like it. BTW....That LS sounds great.
Been 4 years, just now seeing this.

It has been done with the Rallye Pack stuff. Thanks, the 6.0l is fun.

couple of questions?
is the blazer speedometer also 120 mph? is there any kind of calibration needed to be done to the speedometer?

what years blazer/truck/sub have the electronic speedo (i would assume just those equiped 4l60e)?

any other vehicles have a similar speedometer that would work? fbody, caprice, etc...?
You can calibrate the speedo to the proper setting, use the SS faceplate like I did. I us HP Tuners. 1990.91 K5 Blazer, C25/35 Van, Fullsize GMC Jummy from my understanding.

I know most use Dakota stuff, this literally cost me $10 and all gauges work.

Resurrecting this because I have a question.

How would one get the tach on a Rallye pack gauges to work on a standard small block swap? No ECU present anymore.

hook the tach to the hei distributor or the ign coil negative terminal

The tach is "wired" in the cluster with the ribbons in the cluster. What wire in the harness would I need to tap to accomplish it though?
