Let's liven up this area of the forum!

What's one(or two) of your current favorite tools? Two of my current favorites are the Vim 1/4" ratchet(1/4" bit one side, 1/4" socket other) and Wera 1/4" ratchet(socket adapter is removable). I bought the Vim first after a buddy had one, compact and does 1/4" bits, love it. Then I saw the Wera on a job site and had to have that one too, a little smaller and higher quality but use both equally. Pic from left to right is a standard Snap-On 3/8" ratchet, SK 1/4" ratchet, Vim, and Wera.

My grandfather's old 1/2" Craftsman ratchet that doesn't have the release button but it does have the oil point in the head. It has out lasted 90% of all my Craftsman ratchets. It's a workhorse that takes the abuse. Then there's the made in USA GM Goodwrench inch combo wrench set.

Although its not a favorite tool I picked up a Gearwrench 1/4" driver set from Home Depot that is similar to the one you have from Vim. Its come in handy over the years. Nice for tight places and dash work.

Oil point, that's a new term to me. *Edit* The SK ratchet is my dad's I "borrowed" around 20 years ago.

That was the kit my buddy had, I didn't need the rest but the same ratchet as the Vim ratchet. Lifesaver in a lot of spaces!

It has a ball bearing that gets pushed in to add oil to lube it up. I've personally only seen that on the Craftsman ratchets that didn't have the realease button.
Learn something new every day. I believe the first ratchet I bought was around 1991, although I worked with my father and grandfather's tools I don't recall that.

I bought a Craftsman 3/8" Chinesium ratchet with the padded handle for $7 to see if I could break it. Nope. And I use it all the time now. I will admit I am impressed. But the best tool I ever bought is my Craftsman acetylene torch. 40 years old and still kicking butt.

I had a set from Craftsman. Two stage. I think it had 3 welding/brazing tips and a cutting torch. Back when I was working on old Jeeps it came in handy. I sold it to one of my friends and he still has it. I think I got it back in 77-78.

That's about right. Or the early 80's at least. Craftsman still meant something back then. I also bought a big Craftsman 30 gallon compressor around 1990. It was made by DeVilbiss.

Funny, I got that torch set from another one of my friends. Did a trade for a small portable compressor that I bought from a guy a few towns over. It was a cheap compressor but it came with an almost brand new Binks #7 spray gun. My friend needed a compressor so I swapped it for the torches. Kept the spray gun. About 6 years ago the same guy friended me on FB. He left NY in 1979 and was living in FL. He still had that compressor. It was green when I had it but he brush painted it red. He sent me a picture of the thing. I couldnt believe the tank didnt blow through after all these years. Had a new electric motor on it though.
