Hi all - i have a 2004R late model I drove for 10 years.. tore it down and installed the clutch packs, hardened input shaft and drum, sonnax tv boost kit and valve upgrades up front in the pump, art carr shift kit, sonnax Pinless Accumulator Piston Kit and sonnax servo kit 0.500-

all clutch clearances checked out, i followed chris book for pretty tight clearances for rear, ctr and fwd- (i dont think this is the issue though..)

everytime i accel hard atf hits my pass side header! this is the 2nd time ive put it in - at last teardown there was no smoking gun- super clean inside. band clearance was a little loose so rewelded an got it to 60 thou..

But the same thing happened again for the 2nd time :(its not coming out of the vent tube, fluid is correct hot-stumped. im thinking sth int he valve body is off or sth is not right there..

Would checking pressure indicate where the issue might be?

Checking pressures wouldn't cause an issue and might confirm if they are correct. You really need to identify where it's leaking from. Is the front of the trans wet (where the converter is)?

Only things that should leak on that side are the servo cover, cooler lines or dipstick tube. I guess on a long shot it could be a case porosity issue. Valve body leak would be contained inside the pan.

Checking the line pressure would not hurt in case it is way too high.

As 64nailhead said you need to see where it is leaking from.

Trans cooler lines?
Servo O-ring cut on installation?
Converter seal?

I'm assuming it's only leaking when the pressure spikes.

Can you disconnect the TV cable from the throttle and vice grip it all the way out so it sees full line pressure and Jack the car up and look underneath?

Also make sure your case vent is not blocked.

I'm just going to throw this out there, not to doubt you, but hook up an overflow bottle to the vent. A lot of racers including myself are having to use overflow bottles due to trans spray at high rpm. But also like was said, a clogged vent will build up internal pressure and maybe push it out the dipstick.

Hi guys thanks for the help so far -

vent tube def clean, and not leaking from front seal or vent tube. all new seals on tv and tube- i made new double flare lines- only place my skinny wife could crawl in and see fluid was by the servo cover (not sure of thats secondary splash or not) - its brand new but I do recall the oring feeling a little stiff for a new unit, unless sonnax uses a higher shore rating oring for these things.. never leaked a drop before. I could try a replacement unit.. just cant imagine a new sonnax servo leaking~

This is how mine went together (recommended setup):

Im planning on raising the rear end and sticking my bore camera down there and giving it some gas in drive- had my stroker motor for months sitting and this darn issue has been plaguing me 2 installs in a row now.. so stumped its doing it again :(

I could probably try but its DARN tight down there lol.. should have thought of that before. If i have to drop it again ill do that - good tip cos i would like to test it on the strip (wd be my 1st time)..

When i get it off the wheels ill hook up a psi gauge and report back on pressure readings (dont have a tach so will have to use a cheapo inductive one).. super busy at my shop wrapping a MONSTER twin engine job man alone so time is a little tight but will try get to it today or 2moro..

plz stick around chaps - im hurting on this one lol.. so much anticipation and disappointment! Im not sur if the CK clearances are that necessary for a street warrior? man 4-6 thou on a loose unit, heck.. i did get it dialed in but im a little worried, esp about the rear being more than ctr and going into fwd and REV simultaneously!! I might revert back to ATSG specs if I have to go back inside -
