$500 is a great price for a 461 right now. Now that they are discontinued the prices for them are through the roof. All you gotta do with the muffler is take the cage out of the inside and open the hole up. Stay away from the dual port front covers, they don't flow any better and just make more noise.
I bought a whole new muffler on eBay, the factory one here was all rusted and front cover was smashed in. Clutch Hub and Rim Sprocket was wore out, Bearing there was wasted, Air Filter destroyed and the mount cracked. Straight from some methheads so I expected it. Those are all small replaceable parts and already have them on order. Going to run my 25" ES bar with 3/8" Chisel Chain, Carb restrictions are already gone so someone knew what was up, should rip once dialed in.

I have a brand new 25" ES Light bar if you are interested.
That is definitely clean, I'll do what I can to clean up the one I have here.
It was a beat up tree service saw. Had good internals, but it was ugly. I got new plastics for it and it looks 10x better. I don't use it much but they are becoming scarce so I hate to get rid of it. IMO these are one of the best saws Stihl ever made.

Also I'm super leery of Chinese copy parts but the wrap handle has been great and the clutch cover is a solid piece.

I might be interested depending on the price haha.

Where did you find the new plastics?

I keep hearing these are nasty saws when dialed in so I figured I'd try it. Some chinesium parts out there are good, just depending on what it is.

If you're interested let me know, I'll let it go for what I paid for it. Less than dealer price.

The plastics are new OEM from the dealer, but I have a hookup so I get them a little lower than full retail.

The 461s are really well made solid saws. They use classic Stihl construction, so they are easy to work on and they are probably the last non-m-tronic carbed saw of their size that Stihl will ever build. They aren't light but they absolutely rip.

I've been finding stuff on eBay to put this one back together. So far seem to have everything and may have a method to treat my plastics back to a decent shape. I'll see how it balances out with my normal 25" ES bar I'm taking off of my MS391, putting that one back to a 20" setup

Your saw addiction doesn't have you going to shady parts of Pittsburgh to work a deal with the hookup for those lower prices. Hate to see you down that dark road. We are here for you.

Rented an underground chainsaw today. Weather is nice, had the day off, getting rid of the mulberry tree stump.
