I can safely say the Regal hinge that uses gas charged ‘hood support’ (thank you olds joe), are different from the ones that use a sprung support.
But are you saying that from a cutlass standpoint. Or one of the other gbodies?

It clearly says the sprung type hinge from a monte carlo is NOT the same as the regal. But both the Monte hinge sprung (no interchange) and the Cutlass hinge sprung (yes interchange) seem to contradict the blanket statement.

So there may be overlap.

The two smaller plates bolt to hood, with one end of shock attaching to the small plates and the other end of shock attaching to a welded nut on the inner fender via a special bolt.

FWIW, and I hate to complicate things further, there appear to be at least 3 types of hood hinge.

The 317 style which covers many gbodies, then there's these:

So, at a minimum both grand prix and monte carlo have unique body-specific hinges, both being sprung type, not shock type supports.

After looking at some pictures online now I can see how the shock actually mounts. Guess the hinges arent going to be the big issue after all. I'll spend some time on here tonight looking up some needed info. So close, I want to get this crap finished ! LOL

Funny, I was just doing a search and realized I asked about this back in 2018. Even better, you were the guy that gave me info about what you used. LOL
Thanks again BTW !

One question, where did you get the bracket that mounted to the hood for the shock ? Is that from a Regal or did you make that ? From the pictures Ive seen online it looks like the bolts are further apart on the Regal or is that just the way it looks ?

Since I posted in other hinge thread, I'll photo dump here too. Modified regal hinges that are now 1 piece, using custom stainless struts with ball studs with correct gas pressure for glass hood. You can use stabilus #4062 and cross reference it....

I'll jump the light...get it... melloelky car is yellow, like a caution light. Sheesh, I'll see myself out lol.

Mike, the upper strut mount is a separate bracket from a regal/GN that mounts a couple inches further in stock form. In the pics I just posted.....I took that bracket and aligned it, then had my brother n law weld them together then ground smooth. Makes them look like 1 piece hinges.
