Not sure what's up with Jegs but now they jacked free shipping to be over $249.99 now. Summit (& some smaller outfits) is still holdig that $99.99 offer. Is it that they don't have the sales to comp the lower free shipping?

I suspect it's a profit margin thing. No such thing as free, just a buried cost. I bet if you do a little more hard news investigation, you'll find that we've been paying more for a lot of things over the past year or so. Not sure why though. It's almost like our dollars are worth less or something. Interesting times.

I agree! While our dollar is worth less today, I see many individuals taking advantage of using this excuse and making a killing.

One vender I was dealing with last week (no names) was going to charge me $15 for 4 pieces of carboard items weighing in at 4 oz, I said ooooookay, and if I wanted to double my order, it would be an additional $15!!?? I'm sorry, it DOES NOT cost $30 freaking dollars to ship a 8oz ENVELOPE, 4 hrs. away. Guess what, I didn't purchase anything! lol KEEP IT!

Mine is showing 199.99 for free shipping. Not sure if that is my account or to everybody. Shows 10.99 shipping up to $24 and $11 shipping to 199.

Summit is 11.99 shipping to 100.

Rock Auto got me a few weeks ago. They had Big block rod bearings on closeout. only 7 though. So I bought them and paid whatever the shipping was. A week later they found the 8th one and I had to buy that one separate and pay shipping again!!!!

I've found with Rock Auto, if you go with the cheapest part available, they really nail you with shipping, so NOW I go middle of the road and its actually saving me money on my total order. Its for my daily driver so I'm not too picky on my brands for that.

FedEx, UPS and the USPS give the discounted rates for Amazon and Wamlart.com. They gave to make it back somewhere. It should be obvious what's happenning when you can take a truckload of items from Amazon and return them for no shipping or re-stock fee at any UPS.

Last thing I ordered from Jeggs arrived damaged. Heavy duty shop chair / stool I had been looking forward to. Looked like the thing was drop kicked. Both the inner and outer boxes were beat. Casters broken and it was scratched. Called them and they said I had to ship it back FedEx. There are only drop boxes for envelopes in my area. Nearest FedEx shipper is 90 minutes away. Asked for an alternative and all they would tell me is there was one near by. I kept attempting to explain that was a drop box. They basically told me there computer showed several spots local to me and I should go there. To bad and I was out of luck. A few years back they had good customer service and shipping. Something went downhill with them though. I ended up regretting the purchase and fixing it myself.

Yup nothing is free. The big "A" traps you with the free shipping with "Pri..." It's worth it though since It is easy to rack up over the annual due on the stuff we buy. I also notice that a lot of "MADE IN THE USA" is backorder. I bought some rear bump stop brackets that are USA made and have been on back order since Oct2021! They are the only ones that sell the weld on factory brackets, will have to cut my old ones off to reuse on my new rear end. Made in America is just a logo to stick on as most stuff is made on the Mainland then packaged and/or assembled in the US. That is why so much stuff is backorder.

Prices must go up and promos must end. Companies have EBITDA (just a more complex version of "profit"). Every year, cost for the business goes up from suppliers, expenses, internal talent (including turnover), etc... All of that results in added cost to end user/customer. Shipping companies also went up on their prices.

You guys are obviously right about the dollar being worth more. Inflation has been highly documented over the past 6 months - 1 year, but it seems like some corporations are milking that to make even better profits.
