Easy-peasy. Premise 1: Sh*t Happens. Premise 2: if Sh*t is not happening then work is being accomplished. Premise 3: if Sh*t that is happening gets interrupted by other Sh*t all-of-a-sudden occurring, then you have a case of Sh*ttus Interruptus, aka Sh*t being interrupted while in progress or, alternatively, Sh*ttus obstructus, aka the second case of Sh*t happening causes the first case to pause or stop. In the best case scenario, the second interruption cancels out the first so that work gets done. In the worst case, they combine to create something known as either SNAFU, or FUBAR.

As for conjugation, anything ending in "us' is the male nominative gender and if it is ending in "a' it is the female nominative gender, so in the examples above the subject being dumped on by all the Sh*t that is occurring is a man. If it was a woman, she would be blaming the man and adding to the load that had already been piled on him, making it a Sh*t Storm or that of Sh*t PHD. (Piled Higher and Deeper)

The only glimmer of hope in all this is if the victim happens to be a mushroom farmer in which case being buried in Sh*t would be a good thing and any interruption of the flow would be bad.

Test? Nah, we don' do no steenking tests 'round heah. Y'all gotta memorize it and be pree-pared to recite it back perfectly when called on by the teacher. (Probably why I still have a working memory right now despite the fact that most of the SH*T that we had to learn by heart was either just plain stupid, or pretty much useless.)

Another small update here. I pulled the cam out today. Stamped #6930, internet says The 6930 cam was Chevrolet's standard cam used in the '69 & '70 307/200, '69 350/255, '69 & '70 350/250, '69 & '70 350/300 and '70 400/265.
Also noticed it had a double roller chain

Order up a pair of Vortecs yet?
Not yet my man, just taking it slow with the build. I like to plan ahead and try to prepare for the worst. I’m not a rich man, so I’ll probably buy used heads. I found a pair of aluminum sbc heads for a 350 (that would need the steam holes drilled) for 800. I’m thinking they’re expensive for an old 400. But it would be a good buy in the long run in case I want to upgrade the block later on in life.

I have had these on my 355 for a few years now and they are a really nice head for the money even though I bought them for $100 less than they are now. I had them checked out at the shop before installing and everything was within spec and all Comp. Cam parts with PBM valves.
Here is the listing for other versions and one has steam holes already drilled, I always use roller cams but they offer them for flat tappets also.

Don’t spend $800 on something used when you can grab a new set for for another $100-150.

Considering that the base bite on those used heads is 8 bills and the machine shop will want another C-note or two for the set up and drilling, scoring the new set predrilled is not a bad option.

Of course, if all you have to play with is the 800 and the plan is to score the heads and then wait a bit and build up some cash to get the drilling done, well, you do whatcha gotta do, to do whatcha wanna do.

exactly! I picked up my cast iron Summit (aka Dart Sportsman) heads off Clist for $175 a few years ago. I'll gladly give up a few pounds advantage for that $$$$ savings!
