That dimple looks about right. Here are two snaps from my factory manual Malibu. The hole is about directly below the brake linkage hole and directly lateral to the steering shaft hole. You have to zoom into the first picture to see the rod through the brake lines.

I'm interested to hear feedback on how Forum members adjusted the linkage. I had the linkage adjusted so that the bearing face just rubbed on the fingers of the first pressure plate, ruining it. When the pedal is released, how much gap is right?

Thanks for the pics. Do you know how big the hole is supposed to be? I have some hole saw bits i want to use. My kit did not come with the rubber boot or plate either.

I have not had to adjusted my linkage. But here is a pic of the 79 olds service manual instructions.

Is this the dimple for the rod hole? How big does the hole need to be?
If it's the middle of the three that'll be the one. Can't remember the size off hand but it'll be the diameter as the cruise control grommet. If I can tonight I'll see if I can measure it.

Here's the boot part number to search for...I think 'OER' is repopping it. I made my own plate.

I read your post on page 1 about the 3 dimples, but I only see the 2 in the pic i posted on page 4 (pointing with screwdriver) Do i need to peel more insulation back? Regarding hole size, do you think 1” is adequate?

The dimple the screwdriver is pointing to is the upper retainer/screw position. The other one is one for the hole. Some how they forgot to press the lower retainer/screw position.
