Is it possible?
What does the ECM have to do with cruise?
Everything on my car is hooked up, save for the ecm and related wiring.
I've read something about grounding the VSS wire that used to ground through the ecm.

Any info is appreciated. Car is an 85 Regal, used to have the v6, has the K34 option.

Yes you can there are many articles about this on internet. There was several companies that produced after market units back in the day...

The 700R and 4L60E had the Digital VSS. The reluctor is mounted on out put shaft and in place of the speedometer gear. The 2004R, TH200, 250, 350 and TH400 had an add on connected to the speedometer cable. It's about 6 inch long and connects to the Speedo gear on the transmission and then to the original speedometer cable.

You can use the factory cruise brain box that gets mounted above the gas pedal and the green vss box that is behind your instrument cluster.

Cool, I didn't know you could do that.

Any one need the boxes mounted to the fender? I have 3.

As said I have all the components hooked up and they were functional when I bought the car. I'm just hooking them back up. The only thing missing from the equation is the factory ecm which, according to this diagram, only one wire goes to. I'm under the impression I can ground the black/white wire from the VSS and fool the cruise system into thinking the ecm is still there as apparently it grounded through the ecm.

Is it possible an aftermarket GPS set might work to get the road speed?
