HELP Upgrading engine

I just put a BluePrint 383 in my Malibu. I went that route because I don't know much about putting together the internals of the engine and it has a warranty. I got the dressed version so it was mostly complete and dyno tested. The only things I used was the stuff on the front of the engine. It was well less than the 10k mentioned above. They waived the shipping since I told them I could get free shipping from summit (AND I had them throw in a T-shirt to seal the deal).
They do offer 355's with roller cams as well as long blocks (for less than I paid) so you can use your intake and carb. I personally wanted to have a complete engine as possible.
I hope this helps some in the decision making. For me, this is a big expense but something my wife and I saved for to enjoy in our Malibu.

Now there's a name from the distant past of vehicular archeology. Haven't seen or heard of one of them in as much as 50! years. I would have thought that a Rover (British Leyland Corp) would be a better candidate as they did come fitted with V-8's at one point; think it was a Buick engine variant of some kind.

the only problem here is the OP is in Europe. the VAT taxes, import taxes, increased shipping cost, and what not will make for a very expensive "free t-shirt"

At what point can a vehicle component of an obsolete nature be transformed into cheap 'art' with a much lower tax basis?

A no-named, no value artist puts a crappy paint job on a set of engine heads. If bought as art, they have little value to tax. Less still if you bolt them into blocks of wood. Now, if you destroy the art by disassembling and stripping the paint.... then what? You get parts again.
