They aren't my thing, but as long as it's a G body, I don't care. I'm really glad I didn't go for a G body show and then all sorts of other cars were there. Guess I won't be going ever if that's how they do things...
I wouldn't say it was all sorts of others, there were like 250 g bodies and with the extra space they had some other GM cars with a handful of other stuff

Right, but when it's advertised as a G body ONLY event...

I hear you, last year when I took the GTO I got peasant status and was forced to park with the spectator parking

Small-ish events like this will take entry's until they're full. No sense in limiting capacity to 'only' g-body's if others are there to fill the spaces & contribute to the till.
It would be on a gamble if you get it (a non g-body) in or not. I don't see an issue w/the logic.

Looks like alot of interesting G Bodies. Some I'd look at longer than others, but variety is what keeps the hobby going. Typically at the local shows, there's not too many GBodies, but plenty of Camaro's, Corvette's or Mustangs, so it's fun to see more of what specifically interests me. It's only 3 hours away from me, I hope to make it one year, although the earlier time works better for those not wanting to spend the night.

Not sure how I feel about the non-G entries to a G-body-fest. Why can't the guy with the G-body Riviera or whatever the f** that is that keeps posting here with the same drivel show up then?

On the one hand, I do see the "more the merrier" thing, but show up to an "all Camaro" or "all Ford" event or something with your G-body and try to crash that party. They'd likely take your car apart and haul it off one piece at a time! :) If you got 250 G-bodies in one spot, that ain't no small number. You want to bring a non-G, then go park in a corner WAAAAYYY back there in the back. If they used the extra money to develop new G-body reproduction parts that were worth a f**, then by all means, bring in others to support the cause.

OTOH, the whole point of the show is to showcase the G-body, NOT some other non-G-body vehicle. Otherwise, change the banner for the even to "G-body (and other makes/models of your choosing)". If it's about cash flow, then don't have the friggin' event if it can't be held afloat by the G-body participants alone. Everything always revolves around money, but if you're just doing it to raise cash, and will take any swingin' d*ck willing to pay, then F.U., I'm not interested in your "G-body" event because it's no longer one. Pretty soon you'll have all sorts of non-G-body participation and then it's just another car show because word will get around that anyone with an entry fee can get in. If you want to be a special event, then be fuggin' special. Not run of the mill. Sorry, at some point if I was going to this event every year and they keep diluting it, I wouldn't drag my azz half-way across the country just to show up to a car event I can go to locally.

JMO.

I guess I am in the minority, I actually appreciated having some other GM's there to look at. To me it was special having almost 250 G bodies in one place and worth attending for that, with some additional space I thought it was fine to have them, it would be another thing if they turned away g bodies for them then I would understand

Or..... Plan, promote, & organize your own G-body event so you can turn down the extra $$ by excluding any other body styles so your show is LEGIT 'g-body only'.

That's one approach- "If you don't like the flavor of the cake, then have your own party." Believe me, I would if I could. I'm still on the fence with it, but I can play devil's advocate for either case.

Based on the advertising, however, you would think that's what this event was. Legit.

Why not call it an "all GM" show and call it a day if there's an influx of non-G-body cars? I don't care how they run the show, but call it what it is, and don't pretend it's something that it's not. Were there like, only 5 non-G-body cars? If so, it's not a flood, but still, pick a direction and stick with it. I don't know what they do with the "entry fees" for non-G cars. I mean, what's the point? To get better parking? If they're herding all the non-G's into a certain outer area for display only (Yeah, I'm "body" shaming, so what?), I'm ok with that. But promote the event for what it is, not what it isn't. And partly, as I see it, some of the attendees are idiots for even attempting to bring something other than a G-body to the event in the first place.

And this event advertised as a G-body event, no? For a refresher, here it is. I didn't see any mention to bring anything else. The expectations are, based on what's below, that this is a "legit" G-body function.
The G-Body Classic is Classic GBody Garage's Official Annual event held at Pull-A-Part Used Auto Parts in Cleveland, OH. Bring your G-Body NO MATTER THE CONDITION OR STYLE

I don't consider myself as a car-show elitist here. I'm all for car show inclusivity, when it's for any and all makes/models. Even motorcycle divisions. If it's got an engine, bring it. But you don't bring a Chrysler to an advertised Pontiac show. Not sure who the bigger moron would be. The one who brought it or the one who let them in. When there are restrictions, you either follow them or don't. And let the attendees decide for themselves if it's worth going to or not. But let everyone know what's going on.

Like I said, for me it's what they do with the proceeds afterwards. Follow the money. If it's for the benefit of G-bodies everywhere, I'm all for it whatever they decide. If it's just to put extra lining in their pockets, nothing wrong with that, but then why should I buy a bunch of gas, rent a hotel room, drive a zillion miles to go to the same type of show I can go to around here for 1/10th the cost?

Annnd....after all that. I just want to say I'm glad for the folks that did attend, and had a great time and for all the wonderful G-bodies that did make it there from all walks of life. Looked like the majority of folks had a great time. (y)
