Yeah you will definitely need those two wires hooked up at a minimum.

I would be careful too, def avoid running the engine more than a few minutes without coolant though if you insist on testing without all of the hoses.

Oh and don’t worry dude haha I’m a young guy that don’t know really jack sh*t also 🤣👌

Make sure the purple wire is going to the starter, and the pink/red to your distributor by the firewall man.
I’ll be sure to wire those two next thx man, and not taking any chances I’ll def run and test it once I have all the hoses clamped up

I'm not a LT1 guy but I'd suggest to punt that air cleaner & get round type as those can bring some bad ju-ju with a simple back fire.

It also shrouds the carb which restricts flow. Sorry, I can't help with wiring, mine is all ghetto rigged together by my dad, so some day I'll go back and fix it. Until then I'm electrically ignorant on these cars.

I’ll be sure to look into the round type air cleaners, any specific ones y’all know that are any good?

TBH...do a web search for LT1 carb conversion and you'll turn up a lot of hits. Pay particular attention on blocking off the opti and running a LT1 style radiator.

I would think originally your 85 brougham ran some form of CCC carb and HEI distributor meaning all the wiring is there to hook up the starter, distributor and alternator. One issue I see but minor is that the battery cables put the battery on the passenger side which Ponco and iirc Olds did that. Idk what engine was original to the car but Poncho engines did have the starter on the driver's side, too when everything else had them on the passenger side which is another minor set back for extending wiring. I think every other GM make had the dizzy in the rear, Buicks had the distributor in the front of the engine but with the absence of the fuel line on the driver's side, that tells me not a buick, so dizzy wires should be close vicinity to where you need them.
