Has anyone tried the new Hooker cast iron SBC exhaust manifolds on their A/G body?

I have been looking at these to replace my headers. I spend more time cruising the car around that anything else. To be honest, I don't race anymore and just want quiet and reliable. These seem to be really nice castings with large smooth ports and a 2.5" outlet. I think the original manifolds on the original 305 were 2"

Haven't but those are suppose to fit like the OE ones I'm using but need a set of custom down pipes. If Holley under Hooker or Flowmaster would make a set of down pipes I'd use them.

My original manifolds on my 78 looked similar to these and not like the typical late 60's to 70's stock manifolds. My car is also a manual trans.

I'm also using OE clutch linkage with my manifolds. Remember '78 LM1 350's used the earlier driver's side manifold with the newer one on the passenger side. There were suppose to of been very early 305's also using them.

I never knew that about the LM1s using the older style left manifold. That is good to know. My car was built in September of 1977 and had the newer style manifolds on both sides. Not sure if you can get much earlier than September?

August would be the earliest regular production dates. My Hollander '64-'77 Chevelle interchange book shows '78's even using the older passenger side with the SBC's.

I remember reading somewhere that the late '80s/early '90s F body cars with the 350 engines had an exhaust manifold that looked like the '80s G body manifolds, but had a 2.5" outlet. Not sure if that's true, or if it is, where you'd find a set.

Interesting. always figured the "older" log manifolds wouldn't clear. Mainly the frame under the engine, but have never tried them in an "metric chassis". Was either working with older stuff, trucks, or putting headers on.

The cars were designed to work with them. J ust never understood why the went with the later style cause the suck doing spark plugs by the A/C box.
