I would like to drop an early style set of vortec heads on my slightly modified sbc 355. However would like to still use my edelbrock intake that fits my current set of Gen 1 stock heads. Anyone have any recommendations? Does anyone build a set of vortec style heads that would allow me to do this?

I have these in my Regal on my mild 355 SBC with a Howard's roller cam and they work very well.

https://www.gmperformancemotor.com/parts/19331470.html These come with vortec vertical intake bolts as well as the "early style" intake bolts. I'm not sure if these would have the larger raised ports that vortecs have and would create a mismatch with the intake that you're trying to reuse. However been told people try all sorts of things like early style intake on a vortec head with double intake gaskets. Not sure how they overcome the different angle intake bolts which seems to me to be too much work for my liking.

ROGUS.... out of curiosity, how slightly modified is your 355 engine?

Stew86mcss396 suggestion is good as well if your looking for cast iron heads, you should be close to 9.5:1cr depending on piston design/gasket thickness/piston in the hole, and they have the dual bolt pattern you'll need to reuse your 1st gen and vortec style intakes, along with the other nice specifications and for overall power with a flat tappet cam, they are much better than the earlier heads you seek.

RV Cam - flat tappet, Holley 600cfm carb, Edelbrock Eps intake, flat top pistons - around 9:1 cr, mid-length headers

Sorry I'm by no means an engine builder. I merely wanted show a picture of a head that has that option of either intake bolt patterns...then I included the link so you didn't think I was smoking something.
