I've usually use grade 8 yellow zinc plated bolts, nuts and lockwashers and sometimes stainless bolts.

Not the answer you are looking for cut cut the flanges off and get a euro joint style collector.

They are a ball coupler but use a single bolt radius clamp to lock them together & they don't rattle loose.

It's all I run now.

There is a ball and socket variant that uses the three bolt configuration. With the three fasteners you can have a little misalignment and still tighten it all up.

As for the bolts, it is not the bolt that determines the tightness, it is the nut. If you want a nut that won't back off, then I would suggest scoring some Stover Nuts and using them. The big difference with the Stovers is that they are crimped at one end into a triangular shape that forces the threads to really grab the bolt. They are a one shot deal in that they can only be used once and then have to be replaced but hey, great for security.

Or just get some stainless flanges with V-band clamps, I have 4 of them on my Monte to drop out the H-pipe to give me room to work.
2 for the 4.5" collector and 2 for the 4" tailpipes.

Prevailing torque nuts. Lots of different designs, obviously the nylon ones don't like heat.
