My First Love is Oldsmobile, and I have been racing the 85 Cutlass for a few seasons now, but my true Love is El Caminos. ( I have six, ranging from 59,65-, 79-85.)
I Bought this 85 on a Jeep Chassis and the chassis and Drive line are wasted. So.... I found a Donor Chassis and a 6.0 Truck engine. It will see Track duty Only (Unless someone has a title and vin plate to sell)
I am going to Call it "El Jefe" ( A nickname borne from my own first name ( Jeff) I also have a nice Pigalle Sombrero to go with it i Viva El Jefe!
Going to go Carburetor for ease of installation, I have a 7.5 with some 28 spline axles and a Mini Spool, and an Ultimate Differential cover ( If it blows up, there is an 8.5 tucked away)

So far, i have welded a few body mounting points, ran new Front brake line, new Fuel line, ordered new brake hoses and Sway bar links, and put some swap meet Bilsteins up front.
I will be upgrading the rear brakes to 7/8" wheel cylinders, installing a Crown Vic Cross member, ( I already made a frame extension from some 1"x3" rectangle tubing)
Trying to get all the chassis work done before swapping on the Body. ( BONUS! the previous owner left a brand new set of Poly Body mounts in the car!)
I also have poly bushings for the rear, and a pair of F Body Rear Control arms to box for it.
It will be riding on Centerline Convo Pros when it's ready to race

You know what jeep frame they used. I didn't think the wheelbase was right on those, unless they did work to it.

I don't , It looks like the Graham Cracker edition! LOL but seriously, It is an older chassis, I am thinking Wagoneer? 6 lug, 5on 5.5 lug
Once the body is off, I am parting out the drivetrain and axles
There was some serious weirdness going on... lots of tube lights and neon and stuff. they took two rear bumper, flipped one onto the other, welded them, routed the exhaust through them

have been busy that past two weekends. Started with the El Jefe on the Jeep Chassis, got the Grand Am GT buckets inside, pulled the Nose off, Pulled the HVAC and installed the plate in the firewall, sat it back down on a stock 1984 chassis, and threw some 3rd gen Corvette wheels on. I also pulled a few pounds of unnecessary wiring, and the inner fenders. I also rebushed the driver door hinges.
Next Weekend, I have some floor patches to weld in, and then re install the dash, set the Engine/ trans in for Mock up , and fix or replace the bitched up core support. I also cleaned and flat blacked that silly blue paint on the dash

After tearing it apart, it appears to have been from a 76-80 Wagoneer, Stretched in the middle about 9-12" And, I found out why it barely ran..... oil pan had some exit wounds hidden behind the motor mounts
Sold the Engine, Trans .Transfer case, and cross member and Radiator to one goy, Wheels/ tires to another, and Axles to a third lucky contestant
