1990 K1500 Runs... Kinda

Unlike the disaster that was the suburban the k1500 ran perfectly fine before the 1.5" of rubber pickup hose rotted off the pump. It pulled my 76 f250 home when the diff blew out in downtown DSM one winter in 2020. That's the last time I saw it running.

Got that screw drilled out and dist back together. Like before, it will idle all day long. Go from open to closed loop, coolant temp sensor went from 40f (in garage) upto 178-180 perfectly fine. Idles smooth as a baby's *ss right at 750. Slowly I can get it up to 2200 before it will die, but if I whack the throttle it's a big stumble. Let off and it idles smooth as silk.
Also I discovered I can rev the truck up just by moving the tang on the tps, not even moving the TB blades themselves. Does that mean anything? Still no codes at all.

To me it means the computer *thinks* everything is running properly, and, no sensor reading between the tb backwards is tripping an abnormality.

You probably wouldn't throw a code if an injector had an issue. My 87 suburban needed to have injector work right around 250k miles, or, roughly 15 years old. It doesn't get driven as much these days as it did when it was new. It never threw a code at the time and hasn't needed them again in the last 15 years. Knock on wood....

Flow testing on those things used to be pretty cheap, like $10 or $15. Not a horrible idea just to know what you've got. Or, pull a part and swap a few in, see if you get some good ones to stash.

What's your fuel pressure?
I have no idea. I've got one of them adapters that screw into the throttle body feed line(?) in mind as a permanent way to check.

This truck has 220,000+ on it and I'm sure the injectors are originals. I replaced the injector filters (yes even the tiny ones) and it's still dribbling at idle, pooling on the blades a little, and the truck will burn your eyes. It's definitely running rich and I think at the same time it's not getting fuel at the right time when the throttle opens.

Get a gauge on the fuel system. I assume there is a new inline fuel filter? Yeah, two new injectors, if fuel pressure checks out might be your next step.

Checking fuel pressure would be ideal. Dribbling out of the injector could be caused from low pressure. Not enough pressure to form a spray cone. Easiest to me was checking pressure at the fuel filter. Also I’ve never had to service an tbi injector.

So, why the **** does this fitting leak so much? Am I using it wrong? It says right on it "use in place of tbi filter" and because there's no lip inside to seal against the o rings it's a ****ing geyser when I turn the key on.
Am I stupid or is this part made wrong?
I'm probably just going to have to make something. Harbor freight fuel pressure kit for sale. Waste of $95. Should've just winged it and put the injectors in.
