As the title said, I'm back.
I sure have missed alot.
Long story short, Divorce, alimony.
Ya ya, I know cheaper to keep her, ill just leave it as that.
Will my old girl (GP) finally failed her smog check here commifornia back in 2020, and I put her on non op, because why would I spend money on the 3.8 to be compliant.
So I bought a get around car, and the GP sat, until now.
Grandma's grocery getter became a cougar. She was deprived and depressed and now she found herself a young stud willing to give all he's got. And so the build continues...

I know it's not a LS but she's not that picky at this point. Any advice on swapping this 97 lt into the GP would be appreciated, just keep in mind it has to stay stock, I might live in the land of freedom, but reside in this God awful state of California.

Rain finally stopped, so I started pulling stuff off the camaro, hopefully next weekend I'll have the motor out, and on the stand. Wire harness, Holley in tank fuel pump, motor mounts, and some fitting have arrived. Still waiting on the fuel tank.

LT1 wiring wise is damn near identical to running the LS. Pick a Fuse Box you want to run, power the pink wire with the pink wire that goes to the Dizzy in the Gbody, purple to the starter, reds to red. I suggest pulling out that Fuse Box out of the Camaro, stripping down the wiring to build your circuits, stripping down the engine and power harness in the Gbody, and installing everything in.

I'm making it sound simple, it's not. It takes time but done correctly everything works as it should. Did that with my 1984 SS over 12 years ago when I built it. My 1998 Camaro SS was re-designed by a telephone pole one day so I pulled the whole LS & T56 Setup with wiring, PCM, etc, what I needed from the Camaro to make it run in the Gbody.

If you know wiring, it's actually pretty easy. All the colors match.

I do not miss working under the cowl of F bodies. Not at all
Exactly why I have my 1984 MCSS now, I had a 1995 Z28, 1998 Camaro SS clone, then onto my 1984 SS, swapped the LS & T56 Setup from the 1995 into the 1998 and then the 1984 eventually haha sooo much more room.

Hi, what engine mounts did you use here? Did you chop the heater airbox to clear the passenger side rear most coil?

Turns out, LS and LT are so similar you can run an LT off of an LS PCM and never worry about that opti sensor ever again.
One of them is called the LTCC Kit and I've installed & tuned one on a car, there's a couple kits out there for that.

I was referring to a 411 PCM swap with a 5.7 van based operating system. Opti stays as a distributor, runs in batch fire mode off of the 4X crank reluctor only. Close to how my non-LS trucks run, I even unplugged the cam sensor and drove around for a week or 2 as a proof of concept. Couldn't tell a difference in how the truck ran. My Camaro is getting that treatment here soon.

Given the PCM Connectors are different that's a special built wiring harness for that. 1996-1997 has that 4x crank reluctor & sensor.

Correct on the 96-97, you need the reluctor, crank dampener hub, and timing cover. I believe a 96-97 harness can simply be repinned over to the 411 stuff (maybe 94-95 too?), but for me with the b@$r@rd 93 setup I get to crimp new pins onto my existing Painless harness and add a MAF and crank sensor to it.
