Or the firewall is rotted above the HVAC box, or the cowl seams are leaking. All common scenarios,, even in TX cars.
Ok, but the flood is in the backseat footwell. If water coming from the firewall, the front footwell would be wet too. I couldn't quite make sense of it. I looked under the car and the floors were solid.

I could even work with the doors. I would chip the loose rust and pickle it and spray paint it. It wasn't a situation where you could insert your hand or anything. Trunk looks great too. Here's more pics.

Water can enter at the firewall and not leave the front carpet notably wet.

The carpets have a heavy rubber backing. If the water runs behind that rubber as it enters the firewall, then it runs down the sloping floor and the ridges in the floorpan. Eventually it gets to the lowest point, the footwell and it builds in depth util it makes it through to the top and puddles. It can pass through the rubber backing where the belt bolt mounts at the rocker, and, where the seat mount bolts come through.

Now, it could also be running across the top of the floorboard and dries out as it collects in the rear. Either is possible.

That car looks pretty clean. Not going to find too many like that in NJ. Hell my Malibu was garage kept its whole life and it has more rust than that.

Of course I want it, but has a huge dent in a panel I can't swap out. I sent pics to a body shop see if sort of friend can sort of quote fixing the dent. Shoot, I'll take the seat out and open up access for working as ck80 mentions... but I'm not going to be able to fix dent myself.

I live exit 1 on turnpike by Del Mem Bridge.
Way too far south for me to be any good for you.
If the car is rust free an straight otherwise, why not go for it? Rust is worse than dents. I’d go over the car with a fine tooth comb and make a decision on that.

Stand in front of the dent when you show it her.
Always park with the driver side facing away from the house/door. Park with her side facing the store/business you go to. Any luck she won't notice it for a couple years.
