What’s going on everyone. I just bought my first G Body. It’s a 86’ Regal, 5.0 v8 and Avs2 carb. I’m having a couple issues and would appreciate some help. 1st is while I’m driving and car is warmed up car will hesitate and picking up, sputter and shut off. Feels like no gas. I’ll open the hood and notice clear fuel filter almost empty. It’s new filter and last one looked to have alil debris. Removed one of the 2 lines from the fuel pump (left side) off and no gas came pouring out. Are the lines clogged? Other is the wheels always scrape when I hit any bump. Suggestion?

1. Before the fuel filter add in a gauge and read PSI from start, idle and high RPM.

2. Are you sure, it is a no gas condition? Because if it happens, only after warming up to me that seems like an issue with ignition or a mechanical issue, like the fuel pump too dude!

While driving would the fuel filter go empty ?

I just got the car and the fuel pump looks pretty new. Somewhere I read if I removed line from tank, gas should pour out

If theres not enough pressure, especially when the carburetor secondaries open, it can do that yes, it can't run off the floats haha!

If the fuel pump is new, but it's still not running right theres probably a reason why it was replaced.

Some of the airtex ones, and eBay chrome units I have heard do not work right too.

Go get the gauge, and read what you find for now lmao.

Wheels are scraping because they're too big for the car.

As for fuel situation, it's hard when diagnosing a new to you vehicle. It's possible the fuel sock is getting clogged up, which, would cut off fuel to the carb. The there's tons of other things it could be too - weak pump unable to keep up at throttle, debris in line reducing flow, so on sonforth, just kinda need to work through one end to the other till you find the issue

When I checked the codes I get 21 and 23
So thats a bigger issue, because you shouldn't have the computer in the car, throwing the codes for the Quadrajet TPS if theres an AVS one used instead.

Period dude. Post pictures of the hood now man, because this might be more than just a fuel issue 😝💪

The car is throwing codes because you have a aftermarket carburetor that isn't compatible with the computer. Only the stock E4ME Quadrajet is compatible with the computer. Is the distributor still the factory computer advance or vacuum advance replacement distributor? Its very common for G bodies to be haphazardly modified which results in bizarre gremlins not covered by repair manuals. Someone in person needs to go over the car and see what has been done to it.
