in the process of buying a rear sway for my cutlass. after reading a couple article on sway bars. i learn there's a heat and cold forum bar. the article seems to imply both to be the right chose. just wondering what some of you guys have on your daily drivers.

Daily driver? Not a corner carver? Then go with the cheaper of the two. Most of the time that will be cold formed. Lot of factors go into material choices, but heat forming only means it will not be as brittle at the bends, adds steps to the process (read more $$) and nets you a overall stronger bar. How much better I'm not sure, but you'll relieve that corner stress point with heating. But on a street car you'll never (or should never) see the forces needed to break it regardless of the type you choose.

If you were going to go all out on the suspension, I'd go with heat treated. Otherwise, no need unless it's on a huge sale for some reason. JMO.

Cold ‘formed’ is more rigid than a non ‘cold’ formed.

If you’re making tons of go, then this becomes a concern. Are you making 1000-1500hp? If not, then anything is better than nothing. And an UMI Performance bar for stock arms is beyond adequate.

What rear and arms are you using?

the rear arm are stock. my plans are to replace them with umi lowers. the car is only a daily, no hard cornering. my goal is to make some improvement to my suspension that's it. i was unaware of the different ways sway bars are manufactured. just trying to learn what some of you already know.
