Thanks, it sucked! I should be to work less and make way more money. Pay off bills and finish the 70S.

Yup get it done. I'm in school right now for an electronics degree, last semester is this fall and hopefully it all goes well because I'm lined up for a promotion at work with it. Life will be good after that. :)

Welcome aboard from a fellow CN conductor! The training is a lot of information all at once but once you settle in the job is a lot of fun. Hope you'll get to enjoy the sign on bonuses they're giving out! I keep wondering where my retention bonus is?!?

Aren't employers like cell phone companies? All the bonuses and love for new signups, absolutely nothing for loyal ones who have been there for years.

Thanks, yeah most people love this job. No sign on bonus. I was supposed to get one though CP Rail, not a great company to deal with. They played some BS games. Now when I get fully qualified, I should get on the retention board, $3400 every two weeks to barely work, sign me up. Even with paying 10% into the employee share program, as a trainee, I still make the same money as my last job. I know that adds up quickly with the company contributions. I hope most people vote for the 10 sick and 10 personal days in the new contract. At 125% payout, it will be a nice chunk of change, if unused. If not, along with the 3 weeks of holidays we get after one year in Saskatchewan, a lot of paid days off.

This is the first time in over 15 years that negotiations between the union and the company haven't gone to a strike vote. With this new agreement we have lost nothing and gained a bunch of good benefits, I see no reason to vote against it. 20 paid days off a year on top of 3 weeks vacation and with the new laws they can't f*ck us around like they used to when it comes to scheduling. You're coming aboard at the turn of a new era for the railroad.
