Where's the 462 ?
Rus

I sold that to a person in Australia that wanted a stage 2 setup.

I have always liked the European yellow headlight look, something about it really makes a car pop, especially on a 4 bulb system.

I started looking for the 5x7 yellow bulbs, they are almost non existent, I found one company that sold something close if you wanted to fork out $200 each! So I... Read more…

The one thing that drives me nuts is he gets the production #'s wrong as does everyone else!

What production numbers can we agree on for the 1979 Century Turbo Coupe. Is it 61 ?
blk7gxn
blk7gxn
Thats correct! I have a copy too somewhere from GM I acquired years ago. For 1979, the century sport TOTAL for 2 door coupes v6 AND v8 was 1,653. * Note: The Turbo Coupe is not a separate model, but an optional package on the Sport Coupe model. 61 out of the 1,653 got the turbo option (TURBO COUPE). 1980 gets even more complicated!!!

Wow and to think I had three different turbo coupes and two sport coupes,( one I still have). Did not know the sport coupe, as a whole, was that low production.

Me too Russ, I was shocked to be quite honest. Makes owning a few an even bigger honor!

Scored a rare item, and quite helpful one too for our beloved CTC's! 1979 Buick Booklet Brochure Fabric Seat Upholstery book.

I'm always looking for items that pertain to cars I own, and on this one, someone hit me up and sent me in the right direction. Getting so hard to find things now, if it were not for the internet, we would be sitting ducks for acquiring anything unique. Just picked up a NOS hood ornament for my 79 Century wagon last week. Never hurts to have spares!!

SOOOOO I had recently took a little road trip, and just so happened to come home with a new addition to the family. Needs some "TLC", but at 42 years young, what vehicle doesn't! Only has 47K Original, and the best part, I just LOVE the funky willow green dash/interior against the white trim and... Read more…

JAMCAR223 Thank you so much for the kind words!!

Its a really UNIQUE car to say the least. Actually talking to one of my friends who has been around these CTC cars for many MANY years now, has NEVER seen one with this interior color combo! Just beautiful in my opinion. Willow green and white, just POPS!
The car is from the Cleveland area, I purchased it from the gentlemen who inherited it from the original owner who was an engineer and had passed a few years back. The gentleman who inherited the CTC was into motorcycles, not cars, and decided to sell it to me. The car has some really KKOOl things on it, one is a SW gauge pod where the ashtray would rest, in the trio of gauges is an ORIGINAL AND AUTHENTIC GNX boost gauge! I was shocked and amazed to be honest. really happy with it, needs some TLC, some paint work ect, but runs amazing.
When life becomes less hectic, I will pull it out of the garage and take some more pictures.
Again, thanks for the kind words!!

Installed a new decal on the air snorkel last evening. Slowly doing some work to it when I can. Last weekend installed a new fuel pump, did a Synthetic LOF + ZZP, tightened up the squealing alternator belt and put the CCC computer back on the air shroud. little things mean a lot. Ordering new carpet today.....

Any of you guys with red interiors, ever use the G Body Parts.com #1593 red interior plastic paint? As much as I hate to order from them, they seem to have a matching paint for our cars. I have had good results with SEM paints in the past, but I have no idea which one is a match to our interior... Read more…

Hey quick question for you Aero fans. Do you think the site in general is "hostile" towards the Buttless I mean Aero cars? I think we've got a pretty core group of fans that love them to death and have been cheerleaders for them, helping to push them a little further towards acceptance. What... Read more…

As most of you guys know, I own (3) of these cars. Here we can talk specifically about these love/hate body styles. They are unique, and a little more rare than the other G body styles. I own the only ones that I know of in my area. That's what I like about them.

oldsmobile joe
I'll give this a go.
My first experience was when my dad bought a new 79 salon sedan. He needed to replace his 75 salon sedan that came with bucket seats and console. I wish i had that car today. Anyway, i road tested with him while sorted out out what he wanted. I was 14 yo. He passed on the 260 diesel version luckily and got a camel brown sedan, cruise, tilt, ac and rwd. 260 gas engine with the stock 2:29 axle. That car would shift into third at like 80mph on full throttle runs.
My 1978 coupe came out of south Dakota. 260, 5 spd, tilt, and ac. The only way to get a 5spd was with buckets, so it has bucke its also. Carmine red with matching interior. 46k on it when i bought it.
I've added sport steering wheel, gauges with 120 speedo, 32mm front sway bar and a factory rear bar.

I was a service advisor at a Buick dealer in 1978 and was sort of attracted to the new Century sedans. I disliked the service manager there and left after a couple months and went to a Dodge dealer till they closed like so many Chrysler Corp dealers folded in 1979. So next I went to Cadillac and... I really appreciate the invite, thank you!

In a world full of G's, a car one rarely sees-- the slant backs from GM, some see no value, some see Jem's,-- I like that they are different and funky, rarely seen at shows, a car that few when even new chose-- But for me the love and passion was one... Read more…
