I have been still picking away on the Malibu for the last month or so. So far we have put about 100 miles on the new engine with no issues. The last month or so has been fine tuning mostly the carb and timing. Lastly is a final once over of the timing and putting in an adjustable vacuum...
Thank you! It was more so done out of being the cheap, quick fix. and have the material and tools to do it at my shop. Plus I liked the look of the valve covers and once the valve cover was installed you would never even notice the modification and that was what I was going for.
Thanks
James
Isn't that the way they are supposed to be mounted?????? LOL. Didn't notice that in the picture till you mention it. I have been going back and forth on what mufflers to use so that was just hanging around. Trying to get all the exhaust tucked tight. I do no like the look of low hanging exhaust...
Getting a little closer on putting this engine swap to bed. Finally found sometime to get the car rolled on to the lift to start the exhaust. The exhaust I will be making from stainless steel 2.5" mandrel bends. Hoping to finish off the exhaust this weekend and get the carb and timing dialed in...
Still picking away at this swap. Hoping to have it to the point that I can fire it off this weekend. One minor set back was the tall valve covers. The passengers side was hitting the heater box. So that required notching the aluminum valve covers. Then from there is was all the little stuff like...
I do not remember the wheel and tire combo off the top of my head. I will check tonight when I head back to my shop. The replacement rear I have not touched yet. I disassembled it to check out everything. The previous owner had put a new posi unit and gears in it but I will switching out the...
Right now it has a th350 with a shift kit and a few extra upgrades, but down the road I would like to put in something with overdrive like a 200R4.
Thanks
James
I can't believe that it has been this long since my last post, So after nearly 2 years I'm putting the new engine in.Over the past few years we have concentrated on the suspension handling aspect of car like improved tubular upper and lower control arms as well a Viking Performance, Inc. coil...
Well it has been a while since the last up date. The summer was crazy and the Malibu saw very little attention or road time but I did manage to get the new hood painted and installed. I will say the color match is very good for 37 year old paint.
But now on to the next leg of the project...
I didn't realize that it had been this long since I posted any progress. I guess I can attribute it to a long cold winter and a baby on the way. I did do a brake upgrade over the weekend though. I put a set of SSBC drilled and slotted rotors and twin piston calipers. I will say the car does...
I currently have 4 of my Antique cars with JC Taylor. I have been very pleased with them. They offer stock and modified policy, last time I checked you paid pay the premium up to 30k(replacement value) with no appraisal. If you wanted a higher replacement value than that you need to have the car...
That is a corvette crossfire F.I. intake correct? I did a similar idea once but I did two 4's on a diagonal. I will be interested to see how it works out for you. The biggest pain for me was the linkages.
