It is leaking quite from the seal and there definitely slop at the far end of the driveshaft. it does make sounds, kinda like how an old car sounds like, but its not very loud and you can only hear it when letting of the throttle, not when accelerating.

Yeah thats what i figured. but as a temporary fix while i'm looking for a replacement, does anyone have experience with tightening it up, im thinking about how long (miles) and how safe. thanks for the input

Whenever i start up my Malibu 1980, the fuel gauge reads way less than what is in the tank, if I hit the dashboard it comes back to life again ans shows the correct amount. Alright, figured it out, if found the green wire, however the connector was square and would not fit on the sensor. The sensor has a round connector that would never fit on the wire connector, is the sensor missing a piece? However I tested the wire at a ground surface and got a full reading...

So I have to remove the entire driveshaft, at the transmission as well in order tighten up the pinion nut? I don't know exactly where the slop is, someone who helped me look at it told me it was a bearing inside of the transmission, but i can't confirm anything. I didn't even know about this...
