I would check the MAP sensor and the coolant temp sensor. It will be hard to diagnose with out a scanner, but you can measure resistance and voltage.

If I were to install an IRS I would use c4 components much better geometry and parts availability plus they look good

8.8 is not sub 2200 after you add all the stuff to make it fit and work propely
