First off thanks for your Service! I wanted to be a career man but a injury put it to a dead stop 😔. I have been to every meeting at the VA that I can attend and been on all sorts of Meds. But nothing helps more then when I turn the key on my 84' Cutlass. And I also did the stainless brake lines...
Life has been a struggle been dealing with my PTSD and depression. 20 years ago this month I returned home from Afghanistan and I haven't been the same since. But I always have my Cutlass to tinker on so I can hopefully keep my mind busy. I recently upgraded to Holley EFI and let me tell you...
This 406 is going to be my spare engine. I will end up using most parts of my 383 if i blow her up. I haven't been all that nice to her....couple races I spun her to 7k to play catch up. I would feel guilty if I sold her just being honest.
Picked up these Billet Main caps and ARP hardware. Also worked on the lifter valley some more and added vent tubes. Need to have the machine work done so I can assemble it.
Just like the title says....got a little carried away with my die-grinder. Now its time to take it to my Machine shop. Going to have it bored out .030, add splayed main caps and then have it Decked.
Haven't found a DX engine close enough to me to build. But I stumbled across this SBC 400 I can tinker with this winter. It was all stock never been rebuilt. It's the 509 block 2 bolt main. From what I can tell after the research I did this block is supposed to be stronger then the 4 bolt Main...
Personally I would rather find a 8.5 10 bolt before you stick any money into your 7.5. I thought about doing the same but after you dump all the money you will be limited on how much power you can throw at it. I found my 8.5 on Craigslist for 800 bucks locally. They are some times hard to find...
Fuel lines and battery cable's should work that is on the Olds engine. And to clean up the engine bay you will need to remove the computer and harness. Otherwise you will have a rats nest next to your heater box.
But if you really have your heart set on the chevy engine all you will need is chevy clam shells for the engine (none truck style) and chevy motor mounts to replace the olds engine frame pads.
