I've never had an issue with World Products heads holding up. Besides Vortec heads WP are all we used on our stock cars. We have angle milled them to their max and never had durability issues.

As far as the original post, the only real unknown are the heads. Most of the old heads do not flow very good no matter what valve sizes they have. But the 291 heads were pretty good. I don't think they ever came in angle plug, But racers did convert them to angle plug back in the day when using dome pistons. 492 heads could be bought from GM with angle plugs. I really don't believe that any of the World Products SR heads will be an improvement over what you have. But their are plenty of aftermarket heads that will be better.

I'll stay away from a HP estimate. But I will say it should be fun to drive.

As Truracer said I don't think the 291's ever came w/ angle plugs - that's why I asked. I have 4 sets of angle ports 2 sets of 340292's, a set of 14011034, and a set by RHS. If the head doesn't have the manifold heat cross over it was designed for racing. I have made good power with them but as always it's about the complete combo. Wopmonsta - As I said I like your combo and it should be a torquer. I would like to see you finish it off w/ a dual plane intake (I like the performer RPM) A 3000 stall converter, and a set of 3.73's in the back depending on what your intensions are for the car.

If they are 64cc heads and you have around a 13-16cc dish you are looking at around 9.5-10:1 compression. Like stated it should make great torque with the smaller intake runner size, yet still deliver respectable horse power numbers.

I'm running a stock 350 short block (L-82) w/2.02 angle ports, Comps flat tappet 306 cam, w/ a 750 and I'm a little north of 450 HP in good air. You should make some good numbers but you'll need to short shift it.
