Got the lift operational, garage door opener installed, and the exterior painted to match the house this weekend. Just need to paint the trim and I'll be just about ready to get back to work on the car.

kinda looks like mine!! the silver faced insulation panels are super easy to install! also get the silver vent duct tape to secure it to add to the insulation "factor"..lol! this year i'm going to add a access panel and some insulation on the roof. I got a line on a bigger heater which is cheap enough to try but if it doesn't work out I think i'm going the radiant gas heater type heater! MAN i'm super jealous of the lift though!! you need the girls in bikini posters!! I plan on doing a "graffiti" style wall on side! I have my buddies young son starting the project..... as you can see the door I need to finish taping up as well as the graffiti...

I like the vent duct tape idea! I will do that on mine. Since I was having this built and they left it in studs, I just insulated the whole thing before I did the sheetrock. I lucked out on the heater - got that thing free from a good friend years ago. It sucks down power and I had to wire a dedicated 40 amp 220 for it, but it also does not need to run long in a well insulated space.

The lift was an after thought. I've always thought about getting one, but with limited height I figured it wasn't worth doing. After I started the process on this one I was looking through garage journal and found pics of recessed lifts so I decided to look into it. The lift I have is limited to 4 feet so it works well with my height and the contractor added a few hundred dollars to the job to do the extra digging and pour the recess in with the whole slab. I can't really do any transmission work with the scissor lift, but a 2 post just takes up too much space in a small shop.

I like the graffiti theme you're doing - looks good! Nice Cutlass too :) Reminds me of mine - I had a white 87 - it was the second car that I bought, first car that I "built".

Insulation is definitely a good thing - looking forward to seeing more on that Cutlass :)

thanks! The main drawback on this lift is that access to the transmission is limited, but with the space I have a 2 post would just be in the way. I might look into tall jack stands if I need to do transmission work. In the meantime, the next time I remove the transmission will be with the motor - so straight out the front.

So what's the plan with the Cutlass? Top secret or what?

If you don't mind my asking, how tall is the ceiling inside from the floor? By the pics, it appears similar to mine, but like you, I didn't have the height for a two post. My ceiling is 9' from the floor. The style that you have might be an option for me tho. I'm impressed at the height you can get from it. This is mine...
