MY 85 cutlass has the rallye pac gauges but I have a Chevrolet engine and their non functional how can I wire them to work with the Chevy engine

I am pretty sure all the GM sending units work the same (ie water temp, oil press),they regulate to ground. If you hook up the wires they should work. I put a Corvette TPI engine in mine and they all work. The plug(clear)for them is under the right side of your dash.

I was mistaken on the plug, the clear plug goes to the ECM. The gauges must come through the firewall with the rest of the wires near the column.

What engine was original? The wiring between Olds and Chevy engines is fairly easy, Buick v6 can be a pain when it comes to the oil sending unit. The only real difference with the Buick is the number of wires at the oil sender since it also controls the choke.

The Olds oil sender is on the block in front of the intake manifold, the Chevy oil sender is either on the block behind the distributor or on the block above the oil filter, the Buick oil sender is on the oil pump on the lower right front of the engine, the wire is most likely tan color.

The Olds temp sender should be on the front left of the intake and on the Chevy it is either on the front of the intake or on the left cylinder head between number 1 & 3 exhaust port, I never paid attention to where the Buick temp sender is but I'm thinking it's on the intake in front of the carb, most likely a dark green wire.

Voltage is the same between all three, brown wire.

Make sure you have the right sending units for guages and not dummy lights. They are different and they wont work for the gauges. The sending unit for the oil pressure gauge is much larger than the one for the dummy light. My cutlass has a chevy small block and I had this same problem. I found out that my ground was bad in the gauge cluster and I had to run a ground wire to it and everything worked great after that. Hope this helps and good luck!!!
