Keep the 350 trans and 4.10 gears. Your cam selection will be better suited to what your building if you let go of the 6000 rpm limit, 4000-7500 is a race cars usual span especially in drag racing. Let go of the dual plane go single plane and solid roller you have the compresion and heads for it. You have to give your heads the rpm there going to work in to get the most out of them. You already have a drag car setup. Your rpm limit (because of head size), what your trying to do(90% track 10% street), and trans dont match (powerglide). You have a nice set up though just need rpm.

If you are going to stay under 6000, I would look at a retro fit hydraulic roller. I have seen too many flat tappet (hydraulic and solid) fail due to oil or springs or break in procedure or whatever, then you find yourself, busting the motor all they way back apart, new bearings, new rings, new gaskets then on to include vat and hone...because the cam or lifer failed. Plus the time and heart ache.

Roller cams offer a percentage more horsepower across the board and just look, the factory went that way too. I know, $600 for a cam and lifters is about 2-3 times more expensive, unless you end up having to go back through your engine.

in the ways of camshafts the bigger the better (for racing) so long as your pocket and current set up can handle it. at least that's my personal opinion.
