Interesting....looks like a base model Malibu...so yeah would have very few options. I guess it would depend on how big a project it is and what you can get it for. I don't think there were alot of 4 speed Malibus built. Body doesn't look terrible but then in your area they probably are a little cleaner.

As far as I know, the factory V6/stick cars got the 3 speed manual transmission. If its a 4 speed, it may have been swapped. Looks like the bucket seats aren't the original style buckets (not that its a bad thing). Rest of the car looks like its seen better days. As Kevin says, depends partly on how much you can snag it for.

If you really want a bu it looks soild but think of the money it would take to get it where you want it. Would make a great drag car but i certainly wouldn't give much

I've seen much worse fixed up... for that matter I've fixed up much worse myself!

That said, without a price I'd have to admit it's hard to say if it'd "worth it"...

If the car was free absolutely go for it. If the car is $1500... well let's be honest. You could probably buy the non-ac setup and the manual trans set up plus a cleaner "grandma" car for the same cost, and do less work in the bargain. Other than the steel shell, grille, and glass, I'm not seeing much that doesn't need replacing unless you want a rat rod.

From the look of what else is in the yard, and the car itself, I'd be afraid the owner thinks it's worth its weight in gold being a "rare car"

The car would have to be relatively cheap to be worth it in the long run. Like CK said, the car looks like it needs everything to bring it back to it's former glory. Worse cars have been put back together. There has been a few prime examples on the site.
So really, it depends on price and how the car is structurally.

If you really want to make a nice car, don't. Buy one in much better shape to start with and you'll be ten steps ahead. Trust me, wish I had started with a better car. would've have saved a lot of headaches and years of time....

Where are these clean grandma coupes for under $1000....'cause I'll take a couple.

I'm serious.

They're sure not anywhere around the TX/OK area
