FYI: Cross Over Pipe for the 260 Olds

I got an exhaust leak on the left manifold. I found out that the flange rotted and caused the cross over pipe to slip a bit and caused an exhaust leak.

First I thought the pipe needed to be replaced, but the 260 uses a smaller diameter pipe compared to the 350/307. It is under 2 inches! This part is no longer available and the larger engines cross over pipe will not fit.

The good thing is the pipe is stainless and what gave out was the flange. That flange lasted 38 years and 150,000 miles.

The shop had to cut the pipe in half to get it out, and is waiting for the replacement flanges to reconnect the pipe.

Figured I pass this along to anyone else who might have the same or similar issue.

Wow, they made the 260 even more constipated than the regular awful exhaust. The factory style 2" going into 2.25" dual exhaust on my 70 S, even with 2.78 gears give decent acceleration. I am swapping over that drive train and exhaust with the current 3.42 gears in my 88 CSC.
