I am just gonna say with the Performer cam, a set of Z28 valve springs will cover it. For the record they are around $30. If I remember correctly, the -041s are similar to the -186 heads, really close to double humps, but, blessed with accessory bolt holes. ARP rocker arm studs are like $45 for a small block, no name versions are around $20.

In my rant I forgot to add again the heads have screw in studs. I knew they are like the 186 heads & the reason I want to use them.

I got talking with the machine shop today after picking up the other head. He cleared up a few things from when I picked up the other head. The heads did get ported by at the shop that worked on them last, told me better details that I must of missed last time (had the Jr. mechanic with me just wanted to "work" on the engines there.) I was mistaken with the 400 lbs, it was 300 lbs @ .5" lift. He had them disassembled, cleaned, check for cracks, inspected valves & guides, installed new seals. He went over a few things with me about the the lift of r/v cams & springs, comparing to race engines he builds.

300 is better than 400, but it's still too much. This is a lot of risk to save $45 for a set of springs. I will say though, a crafty machinist can make your springs work. Cam break-in is going to be ultra critical!

Good luck - Jim

To make myself feel better, called Edelbrocks tech line for their input. Was told as long as I keep with stock ratio rockers there should be no issues from using those springs.
