Do those 9s of yours actually have a 5.5" BS? Or is there some subtracted offset? Or, do you by chance have a spacer?

Asking just cuz I have 1.7 to the frame with a bare 4.0BS SSIII on mine. 5.5BS should set any wheel 2/10 from the frame [on my car anyway] and then you have to add the tire bulge.

Or, am I smoking weed on my calculations again [??] . . . it's happened before.

I was only going to get 5.4BS on my 9.5s I want to put back there so with the 265 tire bulge I should still have 2/10 to the frame.

Just like my 15x7 SSIIIs that are actually 8" outside lip to lip, these 9.5" Sabers are actually 10.5 wide outside lip to lip so . . . a 10.7 tire will just have a .1 overhang.

.2 + .1 + 5.4 + 5.1 + .1 + .2 = 11.1"
Frame Gap + Tire + BS + [wheel width - BS] + Tire + Fender Gap = Total

I have a 1" bolt-on spacer in the rear.

Good, thank you. My formula still works.

I'll leave the weed smoking to everyone's imagination . . .

EDIT: And I still think those Coys would be a close 2nd to these outrageous Sabers I am getting. I like them a lot!

Definition of anal?

I actually have a spreadsheet I made with different wheel sizes/diameters/widths/backspacing with select tire sizes to check clearances to the frame and to the well on everything . . . so I hopefully don't order the wrong size

I still hope to get them actually ordered yet this month. Just waiting on a refund check to pay for them now. IRS is a bit behind this year.

I do want to stay with a traditional stepped lip which mandates a 9.5" rear instead of just 9". Since [as you all probably know] the wheels are actually an inch wider than the spec'd size, 10.5" is a bunch of wheel for these 11.1" fender wells. Soft lip would probably be fine but I think I mentioned before that I'd like to put a strip of 442 gold tape around the lip and have a friend that thinks he can fab some center caps that will accept the factory 442 centers so they should look just like 17" and 18" inch SSIIIs when I am done.

Is it yet this month yet? Since I ran out of fall, I didn't see any sense in ordering my Sabers until . . . NOW!

Order is going to MHT via AZProPerformance tomorrow!

[2] 17x8.00 w/4.50 BS = $715 per
[2] 18x9.25 w/5.25 BS = $812 per

Yeah, you practically need a home improvement loan to pay for them but this should look pretty awesome and I already have a guy lined up to get me some center cap adapters that will accept the factory 442 centers onto these wheels.

Then just need to get a set of these bad boys plus a set of 245/45/17 and 275/40/18 of these tires on them. These get me the most actual tread on the pavement compared to others of the same size. I know they are complete crap in temps below 50 and won't last long but this car won't see more than 2-3000 miles per year as long as I am around and is a fair weather car only.

Also, once my ribs get better [I fell and broke 2 ribs . . . I am my own worst enemy:blam: ], I should be back under the car but will update my build thread for that.

And then I lied . . . MLK day, bank closed. Fortunately, the wife had the day off so I didn't find this out AFTER driving all the way to town. But it IS happening tomorrow . . . um, what else could possibly happen?
Crash and burn going to the bank?

I painted the car after the lip was rolled, but the paint was broken from rolling the lip.

When you a roll fender, you have to heat up the paint with a $9 Harbor Freight Heat gun and it won't crack.

I can't decide f my $9 heat gun or my $8 4" cut off wheel are the best tools I have ever bought for less than $10.

Never ever ask "what's the worst that could happen" .... lest you actually find out! Murphy and his "Law" can be a real b*tch!
Lol
Looking forward to seeing you finally get the wheels you've been lusting after!

Oh, hey, I think I may well have personally written Murphy's law in my sleep many years ago . . . Though I am a very fortunate man in many ways, it is only because I put myself in situations where I was guaranteed to win. When it comes to luck? Not so much . . . I once lost 9 out of 10 coin tosses. True story.

And, I don't gamble because clear back in high school, we were playing what we called "High Chicago" though I am not sure we really knew what we were doing? A game where you draw one card and simply pass or play on high card then continue drawing cards playing high hand up until you get to 5 cards, then it's just straight poker. First card, I drew the Ace of Hearts. So, 4 cards have been dealt, only one card in the deck can beat me, you play under those stakes. I played. Guy across from me had the Ace of Spades. I got to double the pot.

Anyway, I was moving some stuff late last night, wasn't even that heavy, just boxes of crap the wife asked me to move, and I found out that the ribs are NOT healed yet. Of course, it will only be 2 weeks this coming Friday when I broke them. Re-hurt myself badly enough, I didn't feel good enough to even drive to town today.
So, I will just update this silly thread when I actually manage to get the wheels ordered . . . :blam:
