Seriously. Buy. A. New. Tank. As little as $86 if you swap in your old filler neck yourself. RockAuto.com.

There is a product called Metal Rescue that works on rusty stuff. Seen it used on a lot of antique motorcycle parts. You could try it. Buy six or eight extra filters to catch all the crap it will free up.

See the tank in the car is super solid. And in the past I've had bad luck with repop tanks. Why I had considered cleaning mine

I agree with you, I bought a new tank and it sprung a leak after 3 years and no winter driving....

Mine was a Canadian product. I had no issues. I only wish I had bought the baffled one, but did not know any better at the time.

About five years ago. I was really psyched when I saw that stamped into the top of the tank. I think is was a Spectra brand.

My most recent Canada-stamped one was about 18 months ago. Baffled for F.I. of course.

No ethanol.... Was last driven in 04

What State?

Ethanol isn't a new thing in the midwest. My Texas '89 TTA had not been driven since 2004 and about 2lbs of rust came out of it before I bought a new tank.

Does the gauge work perfect? If the gauge is the slightest bit wonky, the tank (and sending unit) is likely toast. I had working sending units crumble apart in my hands. I don't even know how it was possible they were even partially working.

Arkansas. One of the states that resisted ethanol the longest. As far as I know it works.
