I'm still getting used to the increased light in the garage, but it's definitely a good thing. No such thing as "too much light" in the shop.
I'm just looking forward to being able to get back to work on the car and make use of all that new light. Now if I can just get the heating guys to get my condensation problem in the chimney stack fixed properly...
I started reading this 50 page thread last night.
It was just like reading a good book,I couldnt stop until I was too tired to read,then I finished it today.
Donovan you have more patience than I do,I dont think that I could do without having my Monte on the road in the summertime.
You sure are putting a lot of work into getting the small things done right,as the factory should have done them in the first place like you have mentioned.
Being a truck driver,if I were to change one thing it would be to have rear view mirrors on the doors.
But thats just me.

My comment about the mirrors was not meant as criticism,rather just my personal observation.
Call me anal,but I need to have mirrors on both doors.
My buddy Mark has a 1972 Buick GS clone and it only has one mirror on the drivers door.
Drives me crazy any time I have to drive it.
His Buick also has a Vortec headed .030 over 400 SBC with a smallish solid roller cam.
Works real nice !!

It's obviously a long term project, but in the last few years it's finally starting to take shape and get to the point where when I post pics of it, guys can start to see the vision I've had for it rolling around in my head.

I'm glad you enjoyed reading along in the thread, I enjoy sharing my progress (and setbacks) with everyone here. Members such as yourself with all the kind comments you all provide make the investment in time doing the write-ups all worthwhile.
As far as not being able to do without the car for a summer, I think I actually did remarkably well. I made it through 7 seasons of missing out on car related antics before the bug to get back behind the wheel became intolerable.
The year before last, I picked up a second '80 Calais for a song with a hurt motor, and last summer I dropped in a built 350 with Vortec heads, a lumpy cam, a fresh 200R4 with a stage II shift kit and 3:73 gears from a 442.
Best of all, I made it look like the stock 305 that used to be in the car, right down to the factory valve covers and Corporate blue paint. Sleeper!!

It's not the stump pulling torque of the 455, but it's certainly been enough to take the "jones" out of being in something fun again.
So now really, I kinda have the best of both worlds: a toy to play around with when I don't feel like being shut in in the garage, but still have my pride and joy I can fret over the tiniest details on.
As far as the mirrors are concerned, nothing is written in stone, the final product may yet still include some in one form or another.

I haven't done a build thread on that one due to the fact that I didn't think anyone would care too much to read about "another Cutlass with a 350 swap".
Although in my usual manner, I did take some pics along the way and I incorporated some sneaky stuff and interesting features that might be fun to share with everyone.

Fire up the build thread for sure Donovan! I too think "Olds Cool" is a sweet build, and usual you put some subtle touches on it to separate it from the pack.
