I found a good deal on an Edelbrock RPM Intake, PN 7104. The basic operating range for these intakes is 1500-6500 rpms. They also sit at a 4.72in tall.

I have an all stock 305 in an 86 El camino, and in a few years after graduation I'll be getting a very basic crate 350.

I would like this Intake for the 350. Would it work fine on my 305 for the next few years? I understand I'd have to remove the EGR stuff. I would just worry that the air cleaner would hit the hood if it sits too high or that the engine won't run right because of the rpm range.

Would this Intake work on a 305?

Not a good match for a 305. Hood clearence will be an issue as well (might be able to get by with a drop base air cleaner). Just save it for the 350.

Its designed for the SBC (262 to 350) engines. It will work fine for the next few years if thats what you want to do. Not sure what a good deal is, but if its over $100, i'd say there's better ways of spending that money.

With the right drop base air cleaner and slight brace trimming under the hood, i've managed to fit alot of different intakes under a stock hood.

Hm. Maybe I'll get it then. And a good deal to me is $90 :p and even if it didn't work well for the 305, at least I'd already have it for whenever I get a 350

I love the RPM intake, had great success with one. As far as putting it on your 305 I believe you would loose a little bottom on your street car but you would feel it come on @ 30000. It doesn't have anything for a stock style choke and as you mentioned no egr. In your case I would suggest a stock monte ss alu intake that the GM boys spent a lot of time designing. I think the number is 14101074 and there was a new one on E-bay for $80.00
