CAR BATTERY

I use an Optima in my GP cause it;s in the trunk so no fumes but in my Jeep I have the Interstate Mega-Tron Plus and that starts my Jeep in the coldest weather even if left for a few days.

Why no optima?

With Optima it's hit and miss, they were great batteries years ago but they have lost credibility with some of their batteries coming up dead from the retailer. I picked up one for a friend of mine for his truck and it was dead when we installed it and I have heard a few similar stories. Johnson Controls acquired the company in 2000:

You are lucky, my Wal Mart battery is crapping out after just two years.

I have an Optima red top in my dailey (2008 Sierra). I got a little more than 5 years out of the first one. It was still doing the job when I replaced it, but it was weak.

Sams club around here sells a dual post 850/1020 amp model that fits our cars, made by Duracell of all places. I've had good luck with them, including holding charge in a truck that sat for about a year unstarted without a battery tender.

My car came with an Optima Red Top when I got it. The date code on the battery is over 8 years old. The resting voltage is just starting to get a little low. I will probably replace it when the time comes, its been a great battery.
