Cool mod on filling in the recess on the handles Jim!

Care to share how you pulled that off with the rest of us?

Haha, actually, I filed the ridges down, effectively making the handles thinner. That lowered the profile of them so they didn't stick out so far when you look down the side of the car.

I used a flap wheel on my 4" grinder to take down the majority of the rib, then a flat file to dial it in. The epoxy, 2k, and some careful sanding got them smooth.

Nice subtle touch on the handles, never thought to do that to mine. I bought new ones that are black for dirt cheap via rockauto that were supposed to be semi gloss....but they are definitely gloss so i have to address that before they go on. If i don't smooth them (most likely not), i have another simple trick idea that i used on my old ones.

I was going to buy the repops in black, but found them too glossy as you stated. And, I had about 10 used handles in various conditions, so modifications ensued. Haha.

Thanks for clearing that up for us Jim. I kinda figured that's what you did, but like Scott said, I never would have thought of doing that myself. Kudos for thinking outside the box and trying something new!
I don't have to worry about modding or painting mine as I don't have any anymore...
:D

Yep...i foresee some tedious scuffing to knock the gloss down so i can "satinize" them to match. Another one of them damn hotrodding "foose" things that separates the average resto to one that people walk by and scratch their heads trying to figure out what's been changed.

Not a problem Donovan, I had filled handles before, kinda wanted to keep this a little more traditional in a sense.

Scott, agreed! I could go on and on with passerbys explaining the subtle mods and repairs.
