The 3-4 clutch pack like mentioned and also one of these. The splines in the input drum is one of the weakest parts of this transmission when feeding it lots of torque.

I have the Sonnax input drum/shaft assembly in the 4L70E in my 08 Sierra. It's still the 5.3 but with what some would call 'full bolt ons'. I drive it hard and it was pulling the input shaft out of the stock drum. I'm pretty confident in the transmission now with that and the other improvements. I plan to build a 408 for the truck after I get my GP back together, so we'll see if that 70E can survive that or if I have to do an 80E swap. That Sonnax input shaft/drum is expensive but damn it's a nice piece.

Yes, I blew the 3/4 clutches on our 2004 work truck behind the 5.3. It is so common GM still offers a reman transmission for cheaper(I believe there is a TSB) than shops can build them with a 3 year warranty.
