Glad you are making some progress. Your statement with you car at the painters is the exact reason I learnt to do my own stuff a long time ago, I only trust myself to do what I want.
Yeah Jim, I've learned to do alot of my own stuff....paint is still on the learn list. I know i can spray, just never made time to learn the trade. The crappy part of the cutlass is it stayed in the garage at the painters house....i got the cover to protect it until final paint, then he wanted to put it outside :blam:.

At least he knows it's now gonna take more prep work and material to get it ready and it's coming out of his pocket! My wife and I are working on getting ready to start house hunting hopefully ina few months. Priority numero uno....has to have a garage, no exceptions! She understands now that putting thousands into a quality resto to just keep it outside is out of the question!

Btw...can't wait to see the wagon buffed out m, and out in the sun!

I told my fiance the same thing. Maybe we should go garage shopping and see if we can find one that comes with a house! Lol

Glad to hear you are getting a garage for the Cutlass Scott. I've never had the luxury of parking my car in the garage. At home Mom's car was on one side, and all the saws and lawn equipment was on the other. Then I lived in an Apt. on my own for about seven years. Now I live with my brother and sister-in-law. We have a three car garage. My brother's Camaro is in one bay and his wife's car is in one bay. The third bay is mostly taken up by stuff for my brother's car and mine (engine for my GP on the stand, bare 6.0 block for my 408 build on the floor, small HF engine hoist, bikes, jack stands, floor jack, on and on). The closest I get is having my GP in a 10x25 storage building that I rent. It's not mine, but it's a nice workshop. When I bought my car, there was no way it was going to sit outside.

I recently bought a bunch of land, and the end of this year or beginning of next I'll be building a huge shop, and a new house for the wife and kids. So the wagon is my last build at this house. Have any shop space is better than nothing.

Nice! That's a goal of ours is to one day get a few acres so i can build a true shop with a lift or two. We recently had some issues with the 1st house we bought....didn't know it had a crack in the foundation causing water to pool up in the crawl. Caused mold damage and really sick kids! We basically jumped ship, living in a rental house for the past year....repairs were gonna be $10K+, tried to sell it, had a cash contract offer late last year, house got foreclosed before the closing could be finished!!!! Everything happens for a reason though....our girls aren't sick anymore from the mold, and the house was in my name only so it's not gonna hurt the wife's credit.

We were told by a good friend (mortgage officer) she should be able to finance by summer or so, fingers crossed!!! She wants a basement, i NEED a garage, we will get a house that has both....happy wife, happy life!

Sorry for the drawn out response Jim, helps to vent about it!

Thanks man! It's been a long labor of love getting it where i want it. I half assed alot of stuff when i was younger...trying to prevent any of that now and have a quality resto when complete. I have some friends who think I'm nuts for the amount of stuff I've modified, altered, etc. I just want to roll out a sorta one off cutlass here in Louisville. Most around here are one extreme to the other, i want mine to be a blend of all genre's. So far i think I've nailed my vision....soooo much more to do though.

Thanks again for taking the time to read through the thread. I got the abs fittings from riffraff diesel....Texas82GP used them and they are truly trick little pieces. I did swap out the black socket head bolt for stainless ones so i wouldn't have to worry about rust. Here is the link to them:

Much appreciated! Many hours in, many hours to go...but that's hotrodding! I'm usually messing with something on it everyday. I literally just finished cleaning up the door lock mechanisms so i can put the new black bezel locks together. Stupid little tedious things like this eat up clock, but have to be done.

Just got the question from my wife all men hate, "why can't you put as much effort into cleaning the house as you do cutlass parts?"
I quickly pleaded the 5th and she rolled her eyes lol!
