One cold night I was riding home from my supermarket job in High School when a cop came up behind me shining his spotlight and yelling at me to SHUT IT OFF! Instead I gunned it and disappeared into the park where he couldn't follow. I sneaked home on the dark bike paths that I knew like the back of my butt and when I came out I was in a different precinct. Close one- they usually confiscated the machine and if you were a wise-*ss they called your parents. But ya gotta admit- those were better times.

It's funny that you asked that. I remember riding on the back of my friend's go-kart. We passed thru an intersection and lo and behold there was a cop car stopped at the light. Naturally he came after us and my friend gunned it, we had a bit of a lead on them...I told him to make a quick turn down this alley...he did and hid in front of a parked car. The cops passed us by...we were safe. I remember when we abruptly made the turn. the front of my boot hit the ground and wore a flat spot in it.

Another time we were racing around the streets. We both had our karts...we rounded the corner and the cops were waiting for us. They threatened to confiscate the karts. My friend's mother who was right down the the block happened to walk over and pleaded with the cops to let us go. My friend's mom was pregnant at the time and they let us go...and told us..."Don't let us catch you again or they will be confiscated". I think we were more careful after that go round. Those were fun times, though.
