Stock 455s can be spun to 5500 and be fine... as long as you have the oil flow to keep things in check. It is a big block after all. By nature they make all their power under 5 grand in stock trim. I do think some of the top tear buick guys are spinning their 455s to 7k and beyond. If it all checks out, dump that intake and get a spread bore intake a nice Buick 350/455 Qjet (few on ebay right now, I prefer to build them myself but to each their own), and toss on an HEI, or points eliminator kit and you're good to go. If you don't mind, can ya give us a ball park figure on what you paid for it?

I paid 350. :)

Man you should've lied and said like 600 bucks or something. 350? Damn what a steal!
That's why I couldn't pass it up!
The king of torque; I love my Buick 455. TA Performance is the best aftermarket support we have left. Research v8buick.com for more tips on improving the performance of that monster.

I actually stopped at their shop a while back. Really cool guys.

Great score. The Buick 455 like the Olds 455 made massive torque. Like the Olds 455 everything needs to done just right or Kaboom! That is why I run the Olds 350;).

Arguably of all the BOP motors, the 455 olds is the most pita to work on, but when it's right it's right. I do wish Buick followed suit with Pontiac and Olds and allowed the top ends to swap around.

I love the uniqueness of the Buick 455, especially the '70-'71 engines. The best, and lightest, of the '70s B.O.P. 455 engines.
Now I need a '70-'72 Lemans to drop my Pontiac 455 into.
