3D Printed Dash Bezels

I forsee a profitable sideline business in radio delete panels for the party that can make it happen

I have been critical of manufacturers for not using this technology more in today's market. This tech is actually getting pretty old now, but the major change is that its becoming easier to access for any user.

Hotrod did an article on making gauge pods with it recently. Its a good read, they cover some stuff i didnt think of like you guys are picking up on here. For example choice of plastic.

The applications for this go way beyond as well. If you've ever watched the "How its made" episode of nascar engines, they start with a plastic model and qualify it for fit and flow, then cast the metal part. Another example is shape of a turbine (Turbos) impeller blade. Previously there were limitations of the shape because you couldn't get a tool in somewhere to machine it accordingly. Well now you can dream up any shape and print it. It could change efficiency and other characteristics of an engine.(Koenigsegg does this, see youtube).



The possibilities are endless.

Curious to see how it turns out when you get it back.

Funny, I want a flat panel (with maybe a recess) to mount a phablet/mini-tablet to run my datalogging/gauges software/app - way cheaper and lighter than buying gauges. Going to do this in my MCSS.

I'd buy, if the price is right and the grain pattern matches stock if wood.

I'd like some billet aluminum door sill plates to replace the body by fisher plates.

How about printing more of those unobtainable plastic breadboxes that go between the console and dashpanel? I also need a coin tray insert to put in my old console so that I can add a manual shifter. It looks like the shifter will go right through the middle of it.

Pretty sure the breadboxes are repro'd, though not in the OE inner configuration.

My kid got certified for autocad in High school so I wanted him to model my revised end pieces for LT1 MAF so it fits inside a stock GN airbox so I could 3-D print them (instead of filling them out of Aluminum), but he is too busy DJing or playing computer games.

I have been avoiding getting a UG computer at work and taking the training (work will pay for it), but It's getting to the point where I could make extra retirement income with the skill, and that is not too far off.
