man this is some BS on ebay they say it makes 249 but like you said if you look up the serial code it makes 195? i messaged them seeing if they can give me the real rating because if its 195 there is literally no reason for me to buy this motor
Don't buy a crate motor off ebay. Ebay is great for small stuff or weird NOS stuff you can't find anywhere, if you can help it, don't. And wrong information is a big red flag.

Ask yourself why the EBay motor is nearly $1000 cheaper? Your Qjet being an emissions 305 carb will need rejetting and the idle tubes enlarged with that 222 duration cam and more cubic inches.

It's because it has 100 less horsepower. It's still made by goodwrench in Mexico it's not any different quality. If you look up some YouTube videos you can see people unbox their motors and later when it's in their cars they said they really like it and have no problems

As stated the advertised 195 horse engine that you can get on Ebay for around $1400 is the same engine Super Chevy dynoed with a 4 barrel carb and headers and made 287 horse at the flywheel.

This is a great starter engine for novice and a great foundation to later build on, this will make more power than your 305 and have the potential to make quite a bit more power with just a couple bolt ons.

it sounds like they might not even deliver it to my door like i thought, i dont have a truck and it wont fit im my trunk of any of my cars. my mom has a minivan but my dad is against me doing anything on any of my cars, he dosnt even want me to own a car besides the one he gave me, but anyways if they dont deliver it to my door i think i might do the 305 and put a nice stroker kit in it, good cam, possibly in the future a turbo kit. IDK though my uncle has a truck and i can see if i can convince him to let me use it.

Don't get an aggressive cam right off the bat. Especially if the engines have low compression, which they normally do, around 8:1. It's not exactly smog era low, but don't go putting in the biggest baddest cam you can find just because it'll make the potatopotatopotato sound you want. It's better to just leave the motor as is, add your shiny valve covers or air cleaner as needed. I personally would use the one off your 305, and just repaint it black. I like that factory look. Plus you have all those vacuum lines that need hooked up to the damn thing. Don't go hog wild and tear apart a motor that's already set up to go. Buy the engine of your choice (go through somewhere reputable, like Summit or Jegs) and an engine won't be delivered to your house afaik, you'll have to have it dropped off at a parts warehouse, or hell, you can even order a crate motor through O'Reillys, Autozone, Advance, etc if you wanted too. You might even be able to talk one of the employees or the manager to have someone drop it off at your house. But be ready for it, have an engine hoist and a stand ready to go. Don't want that thing to sit on the floor do you?

And it sucks that your parents seem to look down on the car building hobby, most people do nowadays. But it's your parents house, your parents pay the bills, they make the rules, even if they aren't to your liking. If you really can't get a crate motor, you can just rebuild the 305. Don't go crazy, but you can just do normal hotrod stuff to it and it will run perfectly fine until you get your own place and garage space. Tear it down, mark where everything goes, put everything in Tupperware containers (not your mom's) marked with what goes where, take lots of pictures! For example when/if you take the motor out, turn it to TDC of the compression stroke on #1 and note where the dizzy is, where the vacuum advance canister is pointing to, where the rotor is. Then bore it .030 over, higher compression (aim for 9.5:1 for pump gas), bumpy cam, dual exhaust, recurve the dizzy, and away you go.

Well, folded up they're about 5 1/2 feet tall by 3 1/2 wide. I don't recall how big the box is. I do know that tt won't fit in a car. You could strap it to the roof, but put some old blankets down. If there is no roof rack, open the doors and strap it through the windows.
