Did you make that hood?

Looks great how it follows the header panel lines

D,
Thanks for explaining and showing pics of the process in which you housed your mufflers...quite ingenious..like everything else in your build. I'm not going to start with all the praises again...I think I've inundated you with them over time...:D

No additional praises needed Jack! They're always appreciated, but certainly not necessary. I'm pretty sure I already know how you feel about my work and the car...
:D

Thank you, indeed I did!
Hood clearance had always been an issue since I swapped in the 455 many years back, and I wanted to resolve the matter permanently, for once and for all.

It's an all steel hood, fabricated by me (with some help from a couple good friends) designed to "grow" out of the existing body lines on the header panel just as you noted.

Coverage of the creation of the hood and what inspired it is covered here https://gbodyforum.com/threads/the-juggernaut-build-thread.55095/page-38,
at post #377 right here on my thread.

Thanks for the interest!

This has got to be the most sinister looking Gbody I've ever seen. And given the quality and variety of some of the builds on this site, that's saying something.

Thank you very much, and I agree completely! There's a lot of stunning rides and examples of G body greatness on this site, and I'm flattered by your comment.

When I first started to implement my modifications, that certainly wasn't the intention. However, I love the look it's taken on now. I think what puts it over the top for me, is the hood. Before any of the hood modifications began, the car didn't have that "sinister" vibe to it, yet once we mocked up the plans for the bodyline-wide raised cowl section in cardboard, I could see what the end result was going to look like. Suffice to say, it made me smile and we plunged headfirst into creating the hood, it was something that needed to be built!

Thanks again!

So it's Christmas in April/May!

The horrible Christmas-like weather lately notwithstanding, it IS going to
kind of seem like Christmas for me here in the next little while.

It's been a long time since I've really bought anything for the car, but all the stars seemed to align for some reason and I've found several things I've been watching for lately. It'll be a treat to get stuff in the mail again!

I've got several different irons in the fire at this point, and they started rolling in today, starting with a package from Kevin (O.D. Showtime). Kevin recalled a conversation we had several months earlier, in which I was inquiring about the years that the euro style mirrors came on the later model Monte SS's.

Kevin found a set last week, and offered me first crack at them. I jumped at the chance, some of you had busted my chops a while back at my decision not to run mirrors on the car. Well, these ones are the only ones I'd even consider using.

Nothing has been set in stone or decided on the "mirrors/no mirrors" thing for sure yet, but at least I have a set now if I should decide that I want to have some on the car.

Thanks a million Kevin, I truly appreciate you looking out for and thinking of me!

The next big shipment should arrive tomorrow, this one wasn't a purchase by me, but rather from my dear sweet girlfriend for my birthday next week.
I'm not going to give away what it is, but I know that Jared recently pulled the trigger one on too...

Stay tuned over the next couple days as the goodies continue to arrive!

D.

I like those mirrors Donovan. The fact that they came from Kevin makes me like them even more. I like buying parts from Kevin. All street driven cars should have side view mirrors. Just my opinion.

Thanks Jared.
I too like these mirrors, I've been watching a couple sets on eBay, some guys are asking up to $200 US for a set! Kevin got me these at a fraction of that price.

I know, and you're absolutely right, I really should have side view mirrors on this thing. You're echoing my own voice of reason. I just hate how most mirrors detract from clean lines on a car. IMO, they should look like a cohesive part of the car, and not an afterthought. Hopefully these Monte ones will fit the bill.

The other thing that always irritated me about the side view mirrors was I would spend hours washing, drying and detailing the car, only to have the mirrors dribble water all down the sides 30 seconds after driving it down the street. Didn't seen to matter how well I tried to dry the water out of 'em, they always did it to me every time! Petty thing to worry about compared to the safety aspect I know, but it pissed me off regardless!
Lol
I drive professionally as part of my job, and I rely heavily on my mirrors all the time. It might really bother me not having any on the car when it's done.
Thankfully, mirrors are something that can be added on after the car is finished without too much effort if I decide I want/need them.

Nice! See Donovan, you already like the mirrors enough to give em a selfie thumbs up lol! I agree, of all the g body mirror offerings, those should fit the Naut better than the others. I too drive professionally, so i understand the importance of mirrors as jackass people don't care about big trucks...I'm always watching my mirrors.

It's always good when fellow members are helping each other out! I haven't personally bought anything yet from Kevin, but wouldn't hesitate to from all the kind words spoken of him.

I love gearhead deliveries, have had a couple this week already as you've seen, and several more to come as i acquire parts for this new mill of mine. This damn noodle of mine has some crazy ideas running rampant, and i hope to make said ideas concrete sooner than later! Can't wait to see what the better half got ya, and happy early bday!

Donovan, I really can't imagine a truely street driven car without mirrors. I can appreciate a show car, but a driver is always what has truely struck my fancy. I really appreciate the work of guys like Chip Foose et al but I personally require door handles, door locks and mirrors. I'm a fairly blue collar kind of guy. That being said, your car is already a show-stopper. It will knock everyone out with or without mirrors, etc (and already does). Wait, did I address you by your first name? I apologize. I meant 'Mr. Riddler.'
