I have a 1980 monte carlo, v6, 231cid,auto, best of my knowledge this car should have a th350.

I had a guy take out the motor and install the 350 sbc into the car. He could not connect the sbc 350 flex plate to the torque converter, he said no clearance. My old flexplate was 13 1/4 thick and the sbc 350 is 14"inch thick. I used a BOP adapter to link bell housing to the 350 sbc. Is there any way I can get past this issue with out getting a new trans i.e shorter torque converter bolts or style of felxplate i can use for this type of build?

They should have bolted right up , the flex plate should have 6 holes , with each set of 3 being different diameter, 350 engine to 350th is normal.
