Makes sense, spacers and cheap studs. You can tell the black is more powerful and is just a better build. I too like the converted Camaro's to Firebird's. Although they still don't cover all the Camaro's flaws.

I considered having my 5th gen Maro converted by TransAmDepot a few years ago, until I considered that I could buy a ZL1 for less than the cost of the conversion.

As you can tell I am not much of a Camaro fan, the lines are just wrong but they are slowly correcting them. Of course GM in all their wisdom cancelled Pontiac. The Trans Am was always meaner looking and the price gap on second gen cars is a good example. And 730 ft/lbs to the wheels! The exhaust note is amazing on those cars as well. $75,000 isn't ridiculous for a well put together Bird, if I wanted a half *ss job, I would buy a used Camaro, the kit and do it myself.

The new "Trans Am" is just a Camaro with a bodykit. TransAmDepot will not sell you the bodykit, and they may or may not allow you to use your own Camaro for the conversion. I assume that is how they ensure quality control of their product and make a hefty profit.

There are kits out there, just not as complete or nice as the Trans Am Depot kits. I know they are just body kits but cover up some of the awful lines but still leave the too small side windows etc.

I've been looking. No other kit available even come close to TransAmDepot's kits. The only one that did was discontinued a few years ago. A guy in Alabama got one of those last kits and put it on a wrecked Maro; the end result was astonishing.
