I'd like to think that back in the day people made due with what they had and if they wanted something made they made it. Didnt wait for a bolt on part or whatever. That being said mines a little of both 70s 80s originality with modern engine
Is your G-body "Old School" or "Restomod"?

I would have to say my cutlass started out in the old school realm of things. The typical carbed 355sbc/th350 pavement pounder. However, it started becoming more restomod when i did the efi swap, custom gauge cluster, aftermarket buckets, etc.
It's now definitely on track to becoming a true restomod. Nut and bolt body off resto, with a bunch of subtle body mods, parts from different G's all mixed in to what i think a cool cutlass should be. Add the suspension and brake upgrades, modern paint and trim touches, bigger wheels, not to mention a LS going back in with twins, and an overdrive trans to hold up to the power i will throw at it!

Makes me think. The line between wanting your car to be something is often blurred from just wanting your car to do something. Ya know?
Some people might say "I want a pro-touring build" while others might say "I wanna pull 1G on the skid pad and get the 0-60 under 6 seconds." If they both do the same thing, are they the same thing?
I prefer the term hot-rod to resto-mod for my heap. All upgrades were / are done in an effort to keep the car stock appearing whilst upgrading what I can with stock parts that are available from roughly the era the car was made in.
EI: Larger engine thats still SBC and painted Corp Blue but produces twice the HP of the stock engine. The only electronics I use is an A/F Ratio Gauge. Hot rodding at it's best. Resto Mod to me would involve all electronics and FI that something modern would use EI: mikes wagon. Old School would be something likes Eds time capsule of an SS down to the air pump !

I would say no I would like to think my car could do both but with my budget it may take a few years to make the wagon handle and haul
Don't ignore the RustoMod category - those who work wonders with drywall screws and duct tape while preserving the originality of a well worn vehicle....
The coupe is an 18-year delusion. It became a restomod the minute the lifting chain took up slack on the 3.3L....
I'm old school. I wanted the biggest & lightest stock engine that I could find back when mine started coming together. I don't care for small blocks, but will use them.
